Meet Harry

My Commitment to Santa Monica

My wife Hana and I have proudly called Santa Monica home for the last 18 years. After graduating from Pomona College in Claremont, we intentionally chose to build our lives here because this city reflects our core progressive values, particularly its dedication to strong, well-funded public schools. Now, as we raise our two young daughters and watch our oldest thrive in kindergarten at Franklin Elementary, my commitment to this community’s future is deeply personal.

A Forward-Thinking Proven Leader

Professionally, I bring almost 20 years of experience in business strategy and executive leadership. I’ve spent my career managing complex budgets and leading large organizations through major technical and structural shifts. I will bring analytical rigor and stakeholder management skills to the Board to ensure we navigate the district’s separation with fiscal precision, fairness, and forward-thinking academic leadership.

I have spent my career on the innovation side of the technology industry, giving me a clear view of how our modern labor force is rapidly evolving.  I have led organization strategy, including talent management through the rise of the internet, social media, mobile devices, cloud, and now AI. I want to ensure SMMUSD continues to lead by prioritizing the human-centric skills that machines cannot replicate.  Technology enhances productivity, but it’s not a shortcut and doesn’t replace human thinking.  I am for a slow-tech policy in our schools, because you don’t need to teach a kid how to use an iPad.  To prepare our kids for what’s next, our kids need critical thinking, strategic decision making, resilience, ethical and moral reasoning, empathy and creativity.  Mastering these inherently human skills will prepare our kids to lead in an unpredictable world.

Why I’m Running for SMMUSD

California students must have access to a world-class education that prepares them to live, work, and thrive in a multicultural, highly connected world. I am uniquely qualified to advise our school district on the skills our children need to succeed in the age of AI and beyond. Furthermore, preparing for the future also means supporting families today. I am running to advocate for the realities of modern working families: fighting to expand affordable, full-day before and after-care, helping kids get to school safely, and fiercely protecting the existing open and green spaces on SMMUSD campuses that so many of our neighbors rely on as their primary parks.
